Our Mission

What is the Willow Poodle Project’s Goal?

The Willow Poodle Project aims to bridge the gap in school-based mental health. By combining evidence-based interventions with accessible support, we reduce student stress and give counselors a more effective way to connect. Together, we’re making student well-being a standard, not an afterthought.

We hope that these interventions have
positive feedback from students, staff, and families and result in a calmer, more supportive school environment.

Our Impact Metrics

Measuring Our Impact: Key Metrics

We evaluate program effectiveness using both qualitative and quantitative measures, including:

  • Counselor observations and session notes
  • Student and staff feedback surveys
  • Tracking frequency of student interactions with therapy dogs
  • Documentation of therapy dog use during crises or high-stress periods

Transforming School Mental Health Support with Therapy Dogs

How Funds Are Used

Grant funding and donations directly support therapy dog programs by covering:

  • Professional training and certification
  • Veterinary care
  • Equipment and supplies
  • Insurance
By offsetting these costs, we significantly reduce the personal financial burden placed on school counselors and help ensure therapy dog services are sustainable long-term.

Future Growth

The Willow Poodle Project is committed to long-term sustainability through:

  • Community partnerships
  • Sponsorships
  • Fundraising events
  • Ongoing grant funding
By demonstrating impact through our initial programs, we aim to expand therapy dog access across additional schools and districts throughout Missouri—continuing to honor Willow’s legacy and support students where they are.
